Class Highlights

Acro dance classes at Pembroke School of Performing Arts seamlessly blend dance and acrobatics.

Preschool Acro (Ages 3.5–5)

PSPA is an Acrobatic Arts Certified Studio, and our preschool acro classes are where it all begins. Designed for our youngest movers ages 3.5–5, these classes follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, which prioritizes safety and strength-building first. Students explore the unique combination of dance and acrobatic skills, laying the groundwork for fluid, expressive movement. Classes culminate in an optional June show performance.

Beginner Acro (Ages 5–8)

Our beginner acro levels take dancers ages 5–8 through a structured progression of foundational skills — from cartwheels and backbends to bridges, limbers, and one-handed cartwheels. Grouped by age and ability, these classes ensure every dancer is appropriately challenged as they build strength, coordination, and confidence. Placement inquiry is required prior to enrollment.

Intermediate Acro (Ages 7–10)

Intermediate acro is designed for dancers ages 7–10 who have progressed past beginner fundamentals and are ready to tackle more demanding skills — including back walkovers, front walkovers, and one-handed cartwheels on both sides. This class serves dancers with beginner to intermediate-level dance skills and requires placement approval before enrollment.

Advanced Acro (Ages 11+)

Advanced acro classes are for dancers ages 11 and up who already have front and back walkovers and are working toward or have achieved side aerials and back handsprings. Offered at multiple levels aligned with Senior Company placements, these classes are designed to maintain and elevate acro skills for PSPA's most experienced dancers. Placement is required.

Acro Dance Teams

For dancers who want to take their acro further, PSPA offers four competitive acro teams — Petite (ages 5–7), Tiny (ages 7–11), Mini (ages 10–14), and Junior (ages 11–15). All teams run 12 months a year from August through July, require placement approval and a team commitment, and provide multiple community performance opportunities throughout the season. Please inquire for additional details and scheduling.
