Pembroke School of Performing Arts Acro Dance Team is for skilled dancers who love to dance, love to perform, and want to perfect their acro dance skills.  Dance Team must be taken in addition to your regular weekly classes. Where weekly classes focus on technique, Dance Team focuses on learning choreography and preparing dance pieces for competition.

Class meets for 1 hour every week, runs 12 months per year August thru July, and requires placement approval and team commitment.  All Acro Dance Team members should do dance camp and 2 weeks of technique in the Summer.  It is expected that you have good attendance in both your technique and your Team Rehearsals.

007A- Open Contemporary

Contemporary dance is an expressive style of dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Though it incorporates multiple genres of dance, contemporary dance allows for more upper body movement and unconventional movements from styles around the world. Dancers often use contrasting rhythms, directions, and postures and learn that the floor is their first partner. Curriculum for this class is designed for dancers typically with more than 2 – 3 years of structured classes.

Junior Dance Team (Ages 12-18)

Pembroke School of Performing Arts Junior Dance Team is for skilled dancers who love to dance, love to perform, and want to perfect their dance skills. Junior Dance Team allows for extra time in the studio and helps improve on choreography pick-up. Dance Team must be taken in addition to your regular weekly classes. Where weekly classes focus on technique, Dance Team focuses on learning choreography and preparing dance pieces for competition.

Class meets for 1 hour 30 minutes every week, runs 12 months per year August thru July, and requires placement approval and team commitment.  All Junior Dance Team members should do dance camp and 2 weeks of technique in the Summer.  It is expected that you have good attendance in both your technique and your Team Rehearsals

Junior team dancers typically perform 3 regional competitions,  1 national competition, and at least 1-2 community events. In the past we have performed at “Dancers at Heart for Kids At Heart” to raise money for childhood cancer,  the Pembroke Arts Festivals, and the Pembroke Olde Home Days Fair.
