Contemporary Dance ClassesFor ages 8+

Contemporary dance is an expressive style of dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.  Dancers often use contrasting rhythms, directions, and postures and learn that the floor is their first partner. The contemporary style of dance showcases students’ versatility and improvisation skills and is usually performed in bare feet and to a wide variety of music styles.

Contemporary Lessons

Contemporary dance students study continuously all year long, meeting on various days and times. Class length varies from 1 hour to two hours in length, depending on the level and age. Contemporary dance classes can be added to Ballet, Tap, Jazz & Modern combo classes at an additional cost.

Class time is focused on technique Sept through February. We begin our performance choreography in March, combining skills mastered and perfected in the earlier classes into our choreography, showcasing our dancer’s growth. Please check with us prior to registering for contemporary classes to ensure your child gets registered in the proper class.

Parents are free to view their child’s class each week or when their schedule allows.

All students are required to wear class leotards along with jazz/lyrical shoes as assigned to their class. We have partnered with Curtain Call and Capezio to provide an easy way to buy all of your class wear needs. Simply go to and you’ll be asked for our studio’s passphrase.

Our passphrase is: LUV2DANCE

Tuition is due the first of each month or parents may select a quarterly payment schedule.
