PSPA June Calendar & Info

UPDATED June 2018 Calendar

Everything You Need to Know about PSPA Show Month

Picture Day:

Location: Pembroke School of Performing Arts

Picture Day is where we invite a professional photographer, Gary Antle Productions, to take Class AND Individual photos of all dancers in their show costume(s). You may purchase your photos on picture day OR choose to purchase them online at http://www.garyantleproductions.com/ after that day. Pictures usually take 1-2 weeks to be uploaded. Gary Antle will also be at EACH dress rehearsal taking “candid” shots. Those will be available to purchase during show-week. Please keep in mind that in order to keep Picture Day moving, parents will not be allowed in the photography room.

For Picture Day: Please arrive at the studio with ALL costumes, tights, footwear, accessories. Please be on time as we run a very tight schedule on Picture Day. This should take approximately 1 ½ hours.

Hair should be worn in a low bun with a left part (dancer’s left). We will have helpers at the studio to assist in bun-making, so please do not stress if this is not your forte. Simply arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time and we will make sure your dancer is ready for their close-up!

Rehearsal Week:

Location: Pembroke High School 80 Learning Lane Pembroke, MA

Rehearsal Week takes place at the Pembroke High School Auditorium. Attendance is required. There will be NO classes held at PSPA during this week. Each class will take place ON STAGE. This is a great time for the dancers to familiarize themselves with the school, stage, and backstage area. We will have mini-tours going on so all dancers and Class Moms know where they will be during dress rehearsal and performance time.

For Rehearsal Week: Please arrive at Pembroke High School Auditorium AT YOUR SCHEDULED TIME wearing your class leotard, skirt (if applicable), tights, and ALL dance shoes. Hair should be up off face.

Dress Rehearsal:

Dress Rehearsal is the final rehearsal of the live show, in which everything is done as it will be done for the performance. Attendance is required! Dress Rehearsal typically runs 2 hours. This is a CLOSED dress rehearsal, meaning it is not open to parents/public. Dancer Pick-Up and last-minute parent questions will be answered in the auditorium.

For Dress Rehearsal: Please arrive at Pembroke High School Auditorium AT YOUR SCHEDULED ARRIVAL TIME. You should bring with you ALL Costumes, Costume Pieces/Accessories, Tights, and Dance Shoes. Hair should be in a low bun, left part (dancer’s left). We will have bun help if you need assistance.  Younger Dancers can bring quiet activities such as coloring and books to keep busy. We do not recommend bringing expensive electronics. Please bring a bottled water labeled with student’s name.

Class Moms:

Class Moms are imperative to a successful show! Our Class Moms/Grandmas/Nannies are volunteers who stay back stage with their dancer’s class and help with dressing them, doing bathroom runs, and keeping  an eye on them when they are not on stage. There will be other helpers backstage to lend a hand if it is needed. We must have at least 1 (preferably 2 if it is a bigger class) Class Mom per General Division Class.

The same Class Mom must be present backstage for the entirety of Dress Rehearsal as well as the Performance. And as a thank you, you will be given 1 free ticket to give to a family member to watch the show!

Costumes:

Costumes can be picked up once accounts are brought up to date & June Tuition is paid. Costume pick up begins May 21st. Dancers will receive a pink bag with their costume(s) packed inside. Once they are brought home, please take them out of their bags and hang them up. Tutus should be hung upside down in order for them to “fall” correctly when worn. ALL COSTUME PIECES AND SHOES SHOULD BE LABELED WITH DANCER’S NAME AND CLASS BEFORE PICTURE DAY! ALL COSTUME PIECES SHOULD BE LABELED WITH DANCER’S NAME AND CLASS BEFORE PICTURE DAY! Remember that there are a lot of dancers with the same costumes and it is easy to get them mixed up if they are not labeled.
